Professor Roger Buckley on Delius’s ‘Red Notebook’ (Joint meeting with the Delius Society)
Thursday, 11 February 2010, 19.00 for 19.30. Royal Norwegian Embassy,
25 Belgrave Square, London SW1X 8QD
In 1887, 1889 and 1891, the young Delius kept diaries of his extensive summer visits to Norway. These and various other jottings he made during the course of such visits are all to be found in a small notebook which is now in the Delius Trust Archive. Roger Buckley has made a study of the contents of the notebook and is preparing the work for publication. He will talk about Grieg’s central role in the diaries from 1889 and 1891, and about other Norwegian composers who also feature in its pages.
